The discount for Thai raw sugar hardly moved despite a drop in New York futures, dealers said on Thursday, reflecting a slow trade in Asia and ample supplies in main consumer India. Thailand's high-quality or hi-pol raw sugar was offered at a discount of 35 to 40 points to New York's March contract, unchanged from last week. March raws fell 0.72 cent to finish at 21.93 cents per pounds on Wednesday.

US farmers struggling to seed their wheat crop will likely reap an insurance check rather than sow in less-than-ideal conditions, analysts and agronomists said. Farmers with prevented planting insurance can receive up to 60 percent of their expected revenue if the rainy conditions keep them out of the fields this fall.

Morocco to import 219,000 tonnes of EU wheat - 26.10.2009

Morocco's state grains agency ONICL has approved the import of 219,000 tonnes of European Union soft wheat under a seasonal preferential tariff agreement, it said on Friday. The deadline for bids was October 22 and delivery is due before December 15. The tendered-for wheat will be imported by several trading houses including Gromic, Izda, Casagrains and Kraimi Mohamed, ONICL added in a statement.
Chinese soya buyers complete purchases for 2009 - 26.10.2009

Chinese crushers have mostly completed soyabean purchases from the United States for the rest of the year, and are actively buying United States and South American cargoes for shipment next year, according to an official survey. China has already bought up to 15 million tonnes of soyabeans from the United States, the world's largest exporter and 5 million tonnes from South America, said the National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC).
