Ukraine decreased grain share in the general commodity exports to the level of 3.1% - 17.05.2011

In the first quarter of 2011, commodity exports from Ukraine totaled 15.38 bln USD, imports – 18.516 bln USD, which formed the growth of export indices by 49.2%, and imports – up 58.5% compared to the same period of 2010, respectively, according to data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. The harvesting campaign-2011 in Ukraine is expected to be considerably more generous compared to the last year, but also much more expensive on all indicators - both profitable and expenditure, stated Sergey Stoyanov, General Director of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation. On May 10, 2011, the decree of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine came into force, which increased the minimum and maximum intervention prices for rye as the object of state price regulation in 2011/12 marketing period. As of May 10, Ukrainian agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants throughput the areas of 6.5 mln ha, or 86% of the forecast, and it is completely corresponds to the indices of the same date last year, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food. Ukraine: decree on cancellation of the maize quotas came into force - 06.05.2011

The decree of the Government of Ukraine on cancellation of the quotas for maize exports entered into force. Ukraine: Khleb Investbud exported 802 thsd tonnes of grain volumes within frames of the quota regime - 05.05.2011

To date Khleb Investbud Ltd. completed the exports of grains within frames of the received quota volumes from the beginning of the marketing year, and supplied 802 thsd tonnes of grains on foreign markets, declared Robert Broudi, General Director of the company, on May 4. Ukraine: American Chamber of Commerce recommends the Cabinet of Ministers to cancel the export quotas for barley and wheat - 05.05.2011

Representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and the European Business Association recommended to Nikolay Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, to initiate the Cabinet of Ministers to cancel the export quotas of wheat and barley in mid-May, when the Government will receive the balances and forecast of grain production in 2011. Ukraine: Government may cancel restrictions on exports of maize in the near future - 27.04.2011

At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 27, the authorities may decide to cancel the export quotas of maize, reported Gennadiy Novikov, Chairman of the Agrarian Union of Ukraine, on April 26. As of April 22, Ukraine sowed early spring crops throughout 92% of the planned areas - 27.04.2011

According to operative data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of April 22, 2011, Ukrainian agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of nearly 3.7 mln ha, which totaled 49% from the planned areas, including early spring grains and leguminous crops – 3.39 mln ha, 92% of the forecast, declared the media department of the Ministry.
