About 90% of winter crops in Ukraine in good, satisfactory condition – 19.01.2010

About 46.1%, or almost four million hectares of the winter crops in Ukraine were in good condition and about 43.9% (3.74 million hectares) in a satisfactory condition as of Jan. 14, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
 
According to the ministry, winter crops on an area of 850,000 hectares (10% of the total areas) were weak and thinned.
 
In particular, winter wheat on 46.4% of the sowed areas is in a good condition, on 43.8% of the areas in a satisfactory condition, and 9.7% is weak and thinned.
 
Winter barley on 41.8% of the sowed areas is in a good condition, on 46.6% of the areas in a satisfactory condition, and 11.6% is weak and thinned.
 
Winter rape on 38.9% of the sowed areas is in a good condition, on 40% of the areas in a satisfactory condition, and 21.1% is weak and thinned.
