Russia’s imports rise in January-February by 8,8%, to $ 19.7 billion – 11.03.2010

In January – February this year imported goods to Russia from foreign countries amounted to $19.747.7 million, or 8.8% up from the same period a year earlier, the Federal Customs Service statement said.
 
According to the FCS statistics show a growth in imported engineering products that increased by 43.9%, worth of $4.782.6 million, chemical products - by 41.7% ($ 2.152.9m), food products and raw materials for their production - by 33.4% ($2.5.0 million), textiles and footwear - by 66.5% ($921.5 million).
 
In volumes of engineering products imported land vehicles increased by 68.1%, mechanical equipment – by 58%, optical instruments and apparatus - by 55.5%, electrical equipment - by 18.6%.
 
In February 2010, imports from non-CIS countries gained 10.2% against last year’s February. In the period imports of chemical products grew by 28.3%, food products - by 17.3%, textiles and footwear - by 10.1%. Imported engineering products dropped by 3.4%.
