IFC Invests in Meat Producer Globino to Help Generate Jobs in Ukraine - 22.06.2010

Kiev, Ukraine, June 22, 2010—IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, will invest in meat producer Globino to help increase production capacity, modernize equipment, and create about 600 jobs in central Ukraine’s Poltava Region. Share of 10 largest agrarian companies in grain production has reached 13.5 % - 21.06.2010

In total volume of grain produced by agricultural enterprises in 2009 the share of 10 largest companies has reached 13.5 %. It was announced by Ukrainian agribusiness club (UCAB). Ukraine: Crimea harvested 1.5 thsd ha of winter barley - 20.06.2010

As of June 15, 2010, agrarians of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) harvested winter barley throughout 1.5 thsd ha and produced 3.7 thsd tonnes of the grain, announced Nikolay Polyushkin, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. FAO marks World Day to Combat Desertification today with the publication of a manual that shows how a project in Mauritania successfully fixed dunes and stopped sand encroachment. It will serve as a useful blueprint for similar projects in Africa.
