Workshop: “Accessing the EU Biofuels Market: How to Meet the EU Sustainability Criteria for Biomass” – 23.02.2012

Dear Colleagues!
German Development Cooperation (GIZ), Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting and “AgriEvent” Agency are organizing the workshop: “Accessing the EU Biofuels Market: How to Meet the EU Sustainability Criteria for Biomass” on February 23, 2012 (preliminary agenda is enclosed).
This workshop will
- clarify your questions on the EU requirements for biomass production and sustainability certification
- provide you with up-to-date information on the relevant regulatory processes in the European Union and its Member States (Renewable Energies Directive – EU RED)
- give you the opportunity to share experiences in sustainable biomass production and certification
- analyze the challenges Ukrainian producers and traders face in complying with the certification requirements and discuss solutions
Key Issues:
- Resolving responsibilities, clarifying criteria: Sustainability certification under the EU Renewable Energy Directive
- Current developments in the implementation of the EU Renewable Energy Directive
- Ukraine’s readiness for compliance with biomass sustainability requirements. Comparison of RED requirements and Ukrainian legal framework.
- Real-life experiences: How to go successfully through a certification process
- Special Training on greenhouse gas emissions from bioenergy: Presentation of the BioGrace Greenhouse Gas Calculator and live performance of calculations.
Target audience: biofuel crops producers and traders, certifying bodies, government representatives
