FAO to become a partner of the conference "Grain Forum & Grain Industry – 2009" – 27.02.2009

The investment centre of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/TCI) will be a partner of the conference "Grain Forum & Grain Industry – 2009" (May 20-22, 2009, Crimea, Yalta, hotel "Palmira Palace") in order to realize the project "Review of the grain market of Ukraine and policy opportunities", which is provided in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). 

During the conference the representatives of FAO/TCI and EBRD will held a specialized discussion "Prospects of free trade with grains between Ukraine and the EU", aimed to determine the investment possibilities of the grain sector of Ukraine and provide negotiations with all participants of the market of grains and by-products. 

We remind the main thematic sections of the conference: 

• forecasts (short-, medium- and long-term) of development of the world and Black Sea/Ukrainian grain markets; 

• results of the sowing campaign under harvest-2009 in Ukraine; 

• prospects of the markets of grain processing (flour, groats, bran, mixed fodder, starch-and-treacle products and etc.); 

• prospects of the markets of attendant commodities (mineral fertilizers, technical equipment); 

• infrastructure of the grain market (elevators, logistics and etc.); 

• role and place of the governmental institutions in the functioning process of the grain market in the terms of instability of the financial and economic positions of the country.
